Spot ETH buying, holding and selling for US customers in PayPal and Venmo

From 12 November 2020 PayPal let all eligible US account holders buy, hold and sell bitcoin, ETH, bitcoin cash and litecoin, through a partnership with Paxos Trust Company. Venmo, which PayPal owns, began adding the same four coins on 20 April 2021. On 7 October 2026 Venmo's help pages listed Ethereum among the coins customers can buy, sell, hold and transfer, including outside the Venmo and PayPal network. They also said that from 19 May 2026 the service is provided by PayPal Digital, Inc., doing business as Venmo Digital. This is trading of ETH itself, not tokenization, and PayPal's stablecoin PYUSD is a separate row.
