Tokenized entitlements to securities held at DTC (DTCC Tokenization Service)
DTCC's tokenization service lets participants of The Depository Trust Company turn securities held at DTC into tokens and back, with the same entitlements and investor protections, under an SEC no-action letter of December 2025 that covers Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs tracking major indices and US Treasuries. On 15 July 2026 DTCC converted DTC-held assets into tokens that were used in what it calls real production trades, among them collateral pledges, securities lending, Treasury repo and equity trades, with more than 30 firms taking part. DTCC says the conversions ran on 'LFDT's Besu (DTCC's private network) and Canton (a public network)'; Canton is not an Ethereum network, so only the Besu side is counted here. The full service was due to launch in October 2026, and DTCC had not announced its launch by 7 October 2026, so this row rests on the limited production trades of July. Also: DTCC, release of 4 May 2026.
