Tax payments in ETH, converted to francs

Since February 2021 people and companies liable to tax in the Canton of Zug can pay invoices from the cantonal tax administration, for income, wealth, profit and capital taxes, in bitcoin or ETH, the first Swiss canton to accept them. The taxpayer asks the tax administration for a payment link and pays from a wallet by QR code; Bitcoin Suisse runs the payment, carries the exchange-rate risk and pays the canton in Swiss francs, for a fee of 1%. The upper limit per invoice, CHF 100,000 at launch, has been CHF 1,500,000 since 1 March 2023. The canton itself holds no ETH.
